Celebrating Co Adventurers' talented team with a multimedia day
We recently hosted a vibrant multimedia day in Exeter to capture some of the energy and vision behind our innovative approach to education and highlight our talented team of 15 educators and how they make such a huge difference to our students.
Tom Smith and Marina O’Shea of Thomas Smith Videography were on hand to film one of our children having a climbing lesson and capture video interviews with staff at our new learning centre in St Thomas. This footage will be used in a promotional video that will highlight Co Adventurers’ unique educational approach and inspire more families and educators to engage with our programmes.
The day began with a photo shoot at at Quay Climbing Centre in Exeter, where Co Adventurers trains young people to build confidence, resilience and physical skills through climbing. These sessions help students develop trust, perseverance and problem-solving abilities, which are essential both in and out of the classroom. Tom was able to capture some of the excitement including an eight-year-old abseiling down the wall for the first time.
In addition to recording some of the hands-on learning experiences that set Co Adventurers apart it was good to record some staff interviews. Local business journalist Al Gibson joined us at our new St Thomas learning facility to ask the right questions and we hope to do more such interviews in future, to introduce other members of our team and their valuable insights.
First up was our CEO Dave Slater, who even put on a suit for the occasion. Also known as ‘the Forest teacher’ Dave is often seen in his outdoor gear embracing the concept of ‘Adventurous Learning Together’. However as the company grows he sees the need to help Co Adventurers adopt a more corporate approach while staying true to our innovative learning ethos.
Click to read a edited version of Dave’s interview: Reimagining Education with Dave Slater, to benefit every child. In this article you will read about his vision for Co Adventurers and how we are growing to support more young people through alternative education. Dave shares insights into the challenges and rewards of working with children at risk of exclusion, the journey towards having three learning centres and the broader impact of hands-on, skills-based learning.
Al also interviewed Vanessa Briggs, who is our Curriculum and Safeguarding Lead who spoke about the significance of creative and inclusive learning.
