Our Mission & History
Co Adventures provides educational and pastoral support for individuals, families and schools. This includes tailormade programmes for specific children, whether they have a medical referral, or are students who are disengaging with education, or are completely out of school.
We provide ‘alternative provision’ for such children which is funded by Local Government. This can take the form of teaching sessions, learning experiences or mentoring opportunities both indoors and outdoors.
We also offer Forest School and Bushcraft learning experiences for small groups or whole classes where we use nature to train students in life skills as a specific educational model.
Teaching, Learning, Tutoring and Mentoring
We come alongside children and young adults to support them on a journey to success in life. For many children, navigating family life and school can be complicated or stressful. They need our support to overcome their challenges.
Co Adventurers gives children, parents and teachers fresh perspectives on tackling problems and finding creative solutions. This can be achieved in a formal school setting, at our learning centre in Exmouth, or outdoors.
We create bespoke learning experiences as well as personal mentoring programmes. Some of these are geared towards teaching children life skills on a 1:1 basis or in a group, through their experience of nature, fun and adventure.
We help reduce the burden on a school’s resources by enabling children at risk to reintegrate into normal school routines and activities. We also provide schools with a Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) consultancy service where we advise SEND Coordinators on SEND policies and best practices.
We take your disengaged and disadvantaged pupils on a journey that empowers them to see life’s challenges as adventures and opportunities to make responsible, life enhancing choices.

Outdoor Learning and Forest School Activities
We offer Forest School and Bushcraft classes. Our Forest School classes are geared towards Primary School children while our Bushcraft Programme works well for Secondary School pupils.
Forest School is an innovative educational model that facilitates the teaching of classes in the outdoors. It focuses on learner-led sessions ranging from two hours or more, where the children set the schedule.
Bushcraft is more prescriptive. In these classes we teach young people a set syllabus focusing on survival skills over a longer period of time. Equipped with this knowledge and understanding they are able to persevere in challenging natural environments.
We can provide multidisciplinary instructors to help children navigate their way in life, in small groups or classes.
Whole class Forest School sessions developing independent learning and risk management. These take place on various school sites.
History Theme days including The Vikings, Saxons and The Stone Age;
Forest School Consultancy; and
Teacher training days. Our adult learning options include training PGCE Students from the University of Exeter as part of their Postgraduate Certificate in Education.
